Pingly

Send a text message from your work email.

Pingly is an email–to–SMS gateway. If you can send email but not text messages — a locked-down work account, a desk phone, a device with no cellular plan — you can still reach someone’s mobile phone. Address an email to their number, and Pingly delivers your message as a text. When they reply, their answer lands back in your inbox.

How it works

1. Email <10-digit-number>@pingly.us — for example 4105962177@pingly.us — and put your message in the subject line. The first part of the body is included too.
2. Pingly texts that number from a Pingly phone number, with your name and email address attached so the recipient knows who it’s from.
3. For the next 72 hours, anything the recipient texts back is forwarded to you as email. Reply to that email and it goes back to them as a text. After 72 hours with no activity, the conversation closes.

If a text can’t be delivered, you get a normal bounce message back explaining why.

Who can use it

• Senders must email from a U.S. government (.gov), military (.mil), or specifically approved organization address. Mail from any other domain is bounced.
• Recipients don’t need to sign up. Every message includes “Reply STOP to opt out,” and texting STOP blocks any further messages.
• Pingly logs only who sent what to whom and whether it was delivered — never the contents of your messages.
